Financial Aid

At SRTC, we encourage all students to apply for financial aid. In fact, a large percentage of our students are eligible for some type of financial assistance to help offset tuition charges.

Applying for Financial Aid

Applying is easy. Students should visit https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All students must reapply each year prior to Fall Semester as a new FAFSA is required for each aid year. Students who wish to only apply for State aid programs should visit https://www.gafutures.org/ to complete a GSFAPPS. Students who complete a FAFSA will be considered for both State and Federal aid programs. Please visit the SRTC website, Tuition & Aid, How to Apply for detailed instructions on the financial aid application process, http://southernregional.edu/how-to-apply-for-aid. High school Dual Enrollment students should complete a Dual Enrollment application EACH term of enrollment at https://www.gafutures.org/.

Financial Aid Programs

Federal financial aid programs include: Pell Grant, SEOG, and Federal Work Study.

State financial aid programs include: HOPE Scholarship, HOPE Grant, Zell Miller Scholarship, Zell Miller Grant, Hope Career Grant, and the Student Access Loan. Dual Enrollment funds are available for high school students.

SRTC does not participate in the Federal loan program.

A detailed description of each aid program is provided on the SRTC website, Tuition & Aid, FA Sources page. http://southernregional.edu/financial-aid

Maintaining Financial Aid Eligibility

In order to stay eligible for financial aid, all students must meet the requirements of the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy. Satisfactory Academic Progress is reviewed at the end of each term. The policy requires students to complete two-thirds of the coursework on their entire academic transcript and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 (C). All students should be familiar with the SAP policy requirements. http://southernregional.edu/srtcprocedure/6-6-4sr

Failure to meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy will result in loss of aid eligibility.

Withdrawals and Financial Aid

Withdrawing from coursework can have a negative impact on a student's financial aid eligibility and Satisfactory Academic Progress determination. In many cases, withdrawals cause the student to have to repay financial aid funds back to the college, if the withdrawal creates an overaward situation. Students who are considering withdrawing from a course are encouraged to contact the financial aid office BEFORE they withdraw to understand how the withdrawal will impact their current and future eligibility for aid. In accordance with Federal aid requirements, SRTC complies with the Return to Title IV Policy for students who completely withdraw from school. http://southernregional.edu/srtcprocedure/6-6-1sr3

Financial Aid Refunds

Students who have excess aid remaining after all institutional charges are satisfied will have those funds provided to them. Financial Aid refunds are disbursed to the students during the 4th week of the term. Students must define their refund preference. Information on this process can be located on the SRTC website, Tuition & Aid, FA Refunds. http://southernregional.edu/financial-aid-refunds
