Distance Learning Information

The goal of distance education at Southern Regional Technical College is to provide our students the opportunity to access quality instruction anytime, anywhere. Such access is desired to facilitate a barrier-free delivery of instruction through technology. Southern Regional Technical College offers a quality technology-based learning environment that is not bound by traditional time and space limitations that provides access for students and meets the education and training needs of the publics it serves.

Southern Regional Technical College is a member of the Georgia Online Learning and Development (GOLD). GOLD delivers courses and programs through the Internet and is an innovation of the Technical College System of Georgia.

Types of Courses:

On-Campus (CA): Courses are primarily in the classroom or lab with 50 percent or less of instruction online. On campus courses may include lecture, labs, internships, clinicals, and other in-person instruction. On-campus are not considered distance learning courses.

Asynchronous (OA): Courses are fully online asynchronously with course content, activities, and interactions occurring entirely online. Students are not required to be online at a specific date or time. The minimum requirements for students to participate in an asynchronous course are access to a computer, a reliable broadband internet connection, and motivation to succeed in a non-traditional classroom setting. Courses may require proctored events which will be detailed in the syllabus.

Synchronous (OS): Courses are fully online synchronously with course content, activities and interactions occurring entirely online. Students are required to be online at specific dates/time during the term. Courses may require proctored events which will be detailed in the syllabus.

Blended (BL): Courses with the majority of the course content, activities and interactions occurring online but may require students to come to campus for specific labs, assignments, activities, or events.
